Maybe they were single throughout all of high school and aren’t used to being someone’s girlfriend. Maybe they have been on a few dates since their ex left them, but nothing has ever turned serious.
Maybe they decided to take a break from dating for their own good or maybe they ended up being alone despite what they really wanted.
Either way, girls who go a long period of time without being part of a relationship end up the happiest of all.
They end up the happiest, because they have learned to be comfortable with their solitude. They are able to spend a night in bed alone and still sleep soundly. They are able to go clothes shopping or pick up food without feeling awkward about not having anyone around to share the experience. They embrace being alone.
They end up the happiest, because they have the time to focus on themselves, to act selfish, to figure out what really matters to them. They stay in touch with their friends instead of drifting apart. They pursue their dreams instead of letting them slip away. They are go-getters. Dedicated and passionate. And no man is able to sidetrack them.
They end up the happiest, because they have cultivated their independence. They have enough money to pay their rent and enough knowledge to take care of their own well-being. They are survivors. Improvisers. Intelligent women with the means to make a fulfilling life for themselves.
They end up the happiest, because they realize that love is not meant to be the center of the universe. It is not meant to be the only thing on their mind, the reason for waking up in the morning and for going out at night. Instead of chasing after boys, they chase after their hopes and dreams. They chase after the future they know they deserve.
Girls who stay single for large gaps of time don’t mind how long they stay single, because they get used to living that way. They don’t mind the idea of never getting married. They are okay with the idea of always living alone. They welcome the silence. They are strong enough to not only handle it — but enjoy it.
And if those girls do happen to find someone, it’s going to be someone who pushes them forward. Someone who encourages them to keep fighting, not to give up and let him take over as the breadwinner. It’s going to be someone who is happy that she has a life of her own, plans of her own, and that she is never going to sacrifice those things for love.
These girls will never lose their sense of individuality. They will never let their hopes, dreams, or morals waver to match the person they have found.
They will only date someone who makes them feel even stronger than they already are. Someone who makes them even happier than they already are — even though they’re pretty damn happy to begin with.
