Drugs is a worldwide problem.
The fight against drugs addiction is on us.
We can expect the youth to take pride to say, "No thanks", to drugs: this could be the next life.
Lets face the facts.
Drug addiction, certainly is a menace to our youth which no body doubts. Many specialists will tell us frankly there are a lot more chances that a person who tries drug will fall into addiction than for a drug addict to go out of addiction.
Drug addiction takes a long a bag of others evils like drug pushing, broken families, a ruined future, if not to mention such immediate evils like dropping from school and pretty crimes.
These evils give rise to reasons that youth lack healthy atmosphere to grow normally.Parents who are neglectful of their teen-age children may actually be pushing their children to drug addiction. This hold true to economic sectors.
The other factor is the barkada system that holds strongly among our youth. It is based on another value, pakikisama.
It is not true that we as youth do not take into consideration the adult world. In fact, they look upon the adult world for support, for guidance, for understanding. Young people may not express it but we feel the need to learn our role in the society.
Communication gap is said to be one factor which exist because the parents who devote more time to business or other things at the expense of their children.
Material well-being of children is not enough. They need parents who have hearts, eyes and ears to their emotional and psychological needs.
" Say no to drugs" is a dual role for both the youth and parents as well.
